In response to the call for projects from the Fashion + Design Festival, focusing on innovation, multidisciplinarity, and artistic expression, we presented an object that falls between installation and sculpture, offering a perceptible experience through the ephemeral and the immutable. This human-scale object explores a strong duality between the exterior and the interior, each possessing distinct aesthetic and plastic qualities. This duality is expressed through the representation of a second skin sublimated by the first. We see this installation as an ode to self-discovery through fashion and design!
For a long time, clothes have been compared to a second skin, a textile and fluid epidermis that provides protection, warmth, and style. This second skin is crafted from a vast palette of colors and textures, offering endless combinations.
This reflection guided our proposal. Even the most beautiful fabric created by the greatest designer cannot breathe life into a dull or confidence-lacking personality. Similarly, on a runway, a model brings to life what clothes evoke through their gestures, poses, and gaze.
The exterior, sober and neutral, represents the garment, while the interior is adorned with a single vibrant color juxtaposed with different materials (concrete, wood, metal, textile, and mirror), representing an individual's personality and self-expression. A curved bench is situated at the end of the module, inviting visitors to sit and take a moment to rest. Two available entrances induce a path that allows visitors to move around as they please.
Through a journey at Place des Arts, we offer the public a path where they can admire, explore, and question themselves in front of this installation!
