UNITY
CONTEST - URBAN INSTALLATION
On the occasion of the inauguration of its brand-new site, Espace 67, the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau decided to launch a call for projects in partnership with the Environmental Design program at the UQAM School of Design. The goal was to conceptualize a piece of art to serve as a welcoming structure at the entrance of the park.
Our proposition was based on the concept of unity, aiming to comprehend the environment and promote reunification. This led us to propose a hybrid object between urban furniture and installation, paying homage to the geodesic principle initiated by Buckminster Fuller, specifically the dome connector as a distinct object.
The installation allows for human-scale use and is intended for an audience of all ages, enhancing its potential for appropriation and offering symbolic interaction during gatherings and events that enliven the park throughout the seasons.
Our proposal was selected and brought to life, much to the delight of the users of Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal!
